We’ve been working on grammar in class. We’re reviewing basics such as subjects, predicates, types of verbs, and complements. Test upcoming next week.
Also, the regulars classes have begun reading Unbowed, Wangari Maathai’s memoir about her life as an environmentalist and social activist. We’ve been working on improving our active reading skills and identifying anecdotes that offer meaning to Maathai’s life story.
We’re on the brink of beginning our biography project with Easter Seals where students will be matched with a differently abled student and be charged with the task of writing a life story as an act of service to the community.
Honors students are just finishing papers on the role of magic realism in Christina Garcia’s Dreaming in Cuban.
